Dear Professor *******

Hello, my name is *******, an applicant to the Ph.D. program at University of Texas Austin for the academic semester of Fall *******. I have received my M.S. and B.S. in physics from *******, dedicating my research on understanding the fundamental nature of graphene and its applications through the research endeavors at the ******* (the list of publications and participated projects is stated under the attached CV). Therefore, through the research activities at the *******, I manifested my experiences on materials and devices: as a researcher, I believed that robust foundations to existing materials, devices, and tools were mandatory prerequisites for developing practical materials. Therefore, during this process, I not only familiarized myself with existing research methodologies but also experimented with novel tools, helping me to build the necessary foundations to my ultimate goal of developing new materials.

In particular, at the *******, I focused on using ******* as the *******. In order to reduce the time and cost associated with existing transistors characterized by complex process, I developed sources, drains, and gate electrodes by utilizing the *******. As a result, I was able to successfully create a ******* (“Title of Paper”). Furthermore, I also expanded the project to utilize *******. While conventional graphene exhibited the characteristics of *******, I wanted to overcome the inadequateness of this structure by performing *******. In addition, because of the difficulty in creating an *******, I had *******. Therefore, in order to overcome these difficulties. I applied a general defect on *******, which in effect helped me to enhance the semiconducting function as well as overcome the structural application limitations (“Title of Paper”). Despite these research endeavors, I was also faced with a reality where despite exhibiting *******. Also, while extracting metallic characteristics is possible, due to the high resistance level, it is *******. Therefore, many researchers have focused on *******. While I was successful in producing the performance level similar to or slightly better than existing researches, it was insufficient to replace them. In fact, while some researches have utilized direct synthesis for the production of *******, we can safely presume that the performance of these *******, this helped me to realize the possibilities of direct synthesis, going beyond the limitations of post treatment, and I want to explore ******* through the ******* Program.
